European Union Youth Orchestra – kurz: EUYO – ist eine europäische Erfolgsgeschichte, wie sie nicht besser klingen könnte! Bei Young Euro Classic hat das Orchester seit seinem ersten Auftritt im Millenniumsjahr 2000 immer wieder für Standing Ovations gesorgt.
Kein Wunder, denn im EUYO spielen 120 hervorragende junge Musiker aus allen 28 EU-Staaten. Und auch am Pult haben immer wieder die größten Dirigenten gestanden: in diesem Jahr kommt das EUYO mit dem international viel gefragten Italiener Gianandrea Noseda, dazu spielt als erstklassiger Solist in Chopins Klavierkonzert der Koreaner Seong-Jin Cho, Gewinner des Warschauer Chopin-Wettbewerbs 2015.
Ansonsten gibt sich das EUYO diesmal ganz slawisch: Als Hauptwerk des Konzerts steht Tschaikowskys viel geliebte Fünfte auf dem Programm, und für den Anfang steuert die polnische Komponistin Agata Zubel ihr neuestes Werk mit dem viel versprechenden Titel Fireworks bei.
