Music Award 2016

Ukulelenprediger

A mixture of groovy UkuleleRockSongs and heavy philosophical conclusions. Since 2010 Samuel Beck is working on his project SAMUEL THE UKULELEPREACHER, a new combination of language, drama and music, in which he presents his philosophical views. The first performances was in 2011, at that time exclusively alone or as a duo with bass player Gero Kunisch. In his current program "Narrenmund" Samuel plays three different characters, resulting in an original performance between cabaret and songwriter. Usually such contents are presented quiet and meek, but here you get them roared right into your face, with a vehemence and intelligence which will take your breath away. With his own backing tracks recorded or his band, the whole show becomes more towards a rock concert. Quiet, lyrical passages alternate with voiced soul and hard rock parts, always supported by a groovy rhythm. The combination of traditional rock instruments with a headstrong bass and rhythmically Ukulele make the band is sound unique. A total work of art that is just as convincing as revolutionary. The audience is torn out of its well-established worldview by the entertaining way of "The Preacher".
